Meet Kat Sanders of El Camino

El Camino began as a couple of garden plots in Kat’s Murray Hill front yard & the desire to foster local beauty. The two simple plots quickly escalated into several raised garden beds, premium space to dedicate to growing the most magical heirloom blooms, specifically for cut flower use in arrangements and bouquets. Being able to add these home-grown blooms to a couple’s wedding makes it that much more of a privilege for Kat when designing for an event.

Local & seasonal product use is very close to the heart of El Camino. Applying this ideology to a special event requires much forethought & utilization of local resources, and most importantly, a couple’s choice of blooms. Kat loves to educate couples and the community on the importance of using seasonal local & U.S. grown flowers whenever possible and is happy to spread this education to couples that would also like to prioritize this value when planning their wedding & or event. Antique and vintage hard goods (candle ware, vases, etc.) are utilized whenever possible for events, which not only promote second-hand ideology, but create an irreplaceable, authentic feel to any event.

Inspiration for El Camino can come from far beyond the garden. Studying the fine, textural lines of architecture, interior design and the duality these forms can play with natural elements like, flowering branches and soft blooms, truly fuels the drive to create distinct floral designs.

When Kat isn’t designing, she lives to be in her garden, loves to squeeze her fur-babies incessantly, and catch local music whenever possible with her husband. On any given day, you can find her eating all the tacos and listening to The Police and true-crime podcasts on repeat. She is a Jacksonville native that loves to travel, whether it’s for flowering events or the sake of exploring a new city. We are truly appreciative that you are interested in El Camino’s services and look forward to fulfilling your future floral needs.
